PEPTIDES
What are peptides? A peptide is a short chain of two or more amino acids linked by a chemical bond called a peptide bond. Peptides occur naturally in your body and when many peptides are bound together they become proteins. Your body makes peptides that serve important functions for your body's most necessary processes. However, due to stress and illness, these peptides are often depleted faster than your body can replenish them.
Peptide injections received a bad rap for years because production was not regulated, there was no assurance of purity, anyone could buy them, from anywhere (think China) and they could dose them however they wanted with no legitimate medical guidance.
To some extent this is still true, but there are some very ethical U.S. companies now that produce peptides that Dr. Trussell trusts. The two she uses are Nuvamed and Skydell. Both produce their peptides in the U.S. All batches of peptides are sent thru third party testing and come with a certificate of purity. Furthermore, these peptides must be bought in person at Dr. Trussell’s office after a discussi0n of need, benefits, side effects and appropriate use. Each vial is mixed on site by our nurse. You are given a set of insulin syringes and shown how to draw up the appropriate dose of peptide. You will also be sent home with a handout about the peptide.
Dr. Trussell and her RN, Kathy, have done extensive research and have extensive experience using peptides. They are always available to discuss them with you. Dr. Trusssell is also available after hours by text/phone should you have any concerns.
Popular peptides among Sei Bella Med Spa patients (but there are dozens of them):
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound)

Main uses:
Injury recovery (sports injuries, surgical recovery)
Tendon and ligament healing
Gut health (leaky gut, IBS, gastritis)
Joint pain relief
Injury prevention during heavy training
Best for: Athletes with injuries, anyone with chronic gut issues, people wanting faster recovery.
Epithalon (Epitalon)
Primary function: May extend telomeres and activate telomerase for potential longevity benefits. Dosed twice a year and excellent at restoring healthy sleep.
Main uses:
Longevity and anti-aging
Cellular health optimization
Potential lifespan extension
Circadian rhythm regulation
GHK-Cu (Copper Peptides)
Primary function: Stimulates collagen production and reduces inflammation for skin rejuvenation and tissue repair
Main uses:
Skin anti-aging (reduces wrinkles, improves texture)
Hair growth and thickness
Wound healing
Anti-inflammatory effects
Tissue repair and remodeling
Best for: People focused on skin aging, hair thinning, chronic inflammation
AOD-9604
Primary function: Fat burning peptide that mimics growth hormone's fat-loss effects without affecting blood sugar
Main uses:
Targeted fat loss (especially stubborn areas)
Metabolic enhancement
Body recomposition without muscle loss
Alternative to full GH protocols
Best for: People wanting fat loss benefits of GH without full GH protocol, those with insulin sensitivity concerns
Ipamorelin
Primary function: Selective GH releaser that creates natural GH pulses without affecting cortisol or appetite
Main uses:
Muscle building and body recomposition
Anti-aging (paired with CJC-1295)
Enhanced recovery
Sleep quality improvement
Fat loss while preserving muscle
Best for: Most people wanting GH benefits - cleanest side effect profile of GH peptides
Kisspeptin
Primary function: Regulates reproductive hormones and may help with fertility and hormonal balance
Main uses:
Fertility support
Hormonal regulation
Potential menopause symptom relief
Libido enhancement
Best for: People with fertility issues, hormonal imbalances
MOTS-c (Mitochondrial-Derived Peptide)
Primary function: Enhances mitochondrial function and metabolic health
Main uses:
Energy and endurance enhancement
Metabolic health optimization
NAD+ boosting effects
Longevity and cellular health
Fat metabolism improvement
Best for: People wanting increased energy, endurance athletes, longevity-focused individuals
Selank
Primary function: Anxiety reduction and cognitive enhancement without sedation
Main uses:
Anxiety and stress management
Cognitive function improvement
Focus and mental clarity
Mood stabilization
Immune system support
Best for: People with anxiety, focus issues, high-stress situations
Semax
Primary function: Cognitive enhancement, focus improvement, and neuroprotection
Main uses:
Mental clarity and focus
Cognitive performance enhancement
Neuroprotection
Stroke recovery support
ADHD symptom management (anecdotal)
Best for: People wanting cognitive enhancement, students, professionals with high mental demands
Sermorelin
Primary function: Stimulates natural GH release from pituitary gland
Main uses:
Growth hormone optimization
Anti-aging
Muscle building and recovery
Sleep quality improvement
Alternative to Ipamorelin (similar effects)
Best for: People wanting GH benefits, those who prefer established older peptides
TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4)
Primary function: Promotes cell migration and tissue organization for healing, especially tendons and ligaments
Main uses:
Tendon and ligament healing
Injury recovery (especially chronic injuries)
Flexibility and range of motion improvement
Scar tissue reduction
Hair growth (secondary benefit)
Best for: People with tendon/ligament injuries, chronic pain, flexibility issues
Thymosin Alpha-1
Primary function: Immune system modulation and enhancement
Main uses:
Immune function improvement
Chronic infections
Autoimmune condition support (may help or harm, individual assessment needed)
Cancer treatment support (adjunct)
Hepatitis treatment support
Best for: People with compromised immunity, chronic infections, preventive immune support
NAD+
NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide): Essential coenzyme found in every cell
Functions:
Powers mitochondria (cellular energy production)
DNA repair mechanisms
Sirtuin activation (longevity genes)
Metabolic regulation
Cellular stress response
The problem: NAD+ levels decline 50% by age 40-50
Consequences of low NAD+:
Reduced energy and fatigue
Slower recovery
Accelerated aging
Glutathione
Cellular antioxidant defense: Neutralizes oxidative stress from metabolism, toxins, and inflammation; the body's most important intracellular antioxidant.
Liver detoxification support: especially for acetaminophen, alcohol, and environmental toxins.
Immune function: low glutathione tracks with poor immune resilience.
Skin brightening and even tone: Inhibits tyrosinase and shifts melanin toward lighter pigment, the basis of glutathione's cosmetic use.
Mitochondrial protection: Preserves cellular energy production, especially in liver, brain, and skeletal muscle.
Reduced fatigue and recovery support: Many users report better post-exercise recovery and lower oxidative load with consistent dosing.
There are multiple “blends” of these peptides that show synergy when used together. Let’s have a conversation about what may be best for you!
